1 November falls on a Sunday, and in the Comunitat Valenciana it does not move to Monday
Several other regions are taking a long weekend. Here, Monday 2 November is an ordinary working day.
All Saints’ Day, Todos los Santos, falls this year on Sunday 1 November. When a national public holiday lands on a Sunday, each autonomous region may decide for itself whether the day off moves to the following Monday.
The Comunitat Valenciana is not doing so. Monday 2 November is an ordinary working day here.
What has been decided
The Generalitat and the town halls have ruled out moving the holiday to Monday 2 November. Several other Spanish regions are moving it, and so have a long weekend.
Do you work or study across a regional border, or is family coming from another region? Check their calendar separately, because it may differ from yours.
What it means for the shops
Each year the Comunitat Valenciana designates a limited number of Sundays and public holidays on which shops may open. For 2026 there are eleven, and 1 November is not among them.
So expect supermarkets and shopping centres to be shut. Bars and restaurants are open, and so are many bakeries, because this is their busiest week of the autumn for sweets.
If you live in a tourist zone it may be different. In Torrevieja, for instance, the status applies all year and 1 November is not an excluded day, while Benidorm’s free-opening period covers only spring and summer.
The cemeteries: two towns have published
Benitatxell keeps the cemetery open from 07:30 to 20:00 on 30 and 31 October and on 1 November. On Sunday 1 November there is live violin and piano at the cemetery from 11:30. The Policía Local reinforces traffic control and reserves spaces for people with reduced mobility.
Villajoyosa opens from 26 October to 1 November, every day from 07:00 to 19:00 with no midday closure, and runs a bus from the Parc de la Barbera dels Aragonés. On Sunday it runs continuously from 08:50 to 18:30. There is a rosary at 16:00 and a mass at 16:30.
And the rest of the coast
At the time of writing, Dénia, Xàbia, Calp, Ondara, Pego and Teulada-Moraira had not published a 2026 programme we could find. Town halls often issue their notice only in the final week.
The pattern is the same everywhere: extended opening hours in the week before, extra traffic control, and a mass on the afternoon of 1 November.
