250 euros a month in rent support for under 35s: applications close 11 September
The Valencia region has launched the Bono Alquiler Joven 2026: 250 euros a month for two years, EU citizens included. The window is short, so act fast.
Renting a home or room in the Valencia region and aged 35 or under? There may be 6,000 euros waiting for you. The Generalitat has opened applications for the Bono Alquiler Joven 2026: a rent subsidy of 250 euros a month for two years. Foreign residents from the EU who live here legally qualify too. But mind the clock: the window closes on 11 September.
What the Bono Alquiler Joven is
The scheme is simple: successful applicants receive up to 250 euros a month on top of their own rent budget, for 24 months. That adds up to a maximum of 6,000 euros. The Generalitat set aside around 30 million euros this year, almost a third more than last year. Even better: the support can apply retroactively to rental contracts running since January 2025. If you have been renting for a while, you may see money back for past months too.
Who qualifies
The conditions in a row. You are 35 or younger and hold the nationality of an EU country or a valid residence permit: EU citizens living here legally are covered. You are named on a rental contract for a home or a room in the Valencia region, and your income stays under three times the IPREM, Spain’s reference index for benefits and subsidies. There is also a cap on the rent itself. In Valencia city the home may cost at most 900 euros a month (a room 450), in Alicante, Castellon and the flood affected municipalities 800 euros (room 400), in a list of larger towns such as Benidorm, Elche and Gandia 700 euros (room 350), and in the rest of the region 650 euros (room 300).
How to apply
The application window runs from 24 August up to and including Friday 11 September 2026, and the pot is finite: do not wait. Applying is easiest online through the Generalitat’s electronic office, which requires digital identification such as Cl@ve or a digital certificate. You can also apply in person at the territorial offices. All information and the application desk are at habitatge.gva.es. Have your rental contract, income documents and proof of payments ready. And do the maths on your monthly costs first: our guide to the cost of living on the Costa Blanca helps with that.
